Stingray Class - Year 6
Welcome to Stingray Class
Welcome to Stingray Class!
Mrs Simpson, Mrs Norris, and Mrs Miller will teach Stingray class. Our class page provides information regarding all things Stingray!
Year 6 is an exciting chapter as the children reach the end of their KS2 journey! We will continue to set an excellent example to the rest of the school, following our school values of truth, love, forgiveness, courage and respect. Year 6 will focus on SATS preparation, equipping ourselves with the tools to be successful and achieve our very best. Year 6 will be a very fun and exciting year as we prepare all of our children to grow and develop, ready to set off for secondary school.
Reading
Reading for pleasure is an important part of Year 6 that we incorporate into our reading sessions and English lessons. It is crucial that we are reading at home and we are reading at least 15 minutes a day. We need to read our book twice with an adult at home, and then we can complete our AR quiz and answer comprehension questions. AR logins will be shared and added to their reading record. All reading needs to be logged in the child’s reading record so that they can quiz after two reads.
Maths
Year 6 maths curriculum focuses on extending students' understanding of the number system, including place value up to 10,000,000, and developing connections between multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratio. Students will also learn about algebra, ratio, and proportion, and will interpret and create pie charts and graphs. They will master formal written methods for all four operations, including long multiplication and division.
